Create Now! Revolution

I think it’s time for a revolution.

We’ve got enough “do it this way, not that way” rules. We’ve got plenty of people who shake their heads and say, “I just don’t think this is a good time to try it.” There are enough naysayers because of the bad economy out there. It’s time for some of us creatives to counter-balance a bit, yes? I want to create a crowd of revolutionaries who say to each other, “Your call” and then let them do it.

Create Now! is exactly that. It’s an excuse for you, every day, to come here and find a reason to create.

Whether you create with words, images, media, or a mix of all three, you’re welcome here.

Even if you have no experience creating or years of experience creating, this is your place.

If you haunt Etsy and wish with all your heart for the courage to put your products up for sale or if you’ve been selling on Etsy for years and need a bit of a revolution to get your creativity flowing, this is your place.

If you’ve been told “no, I don’t think this is the time for you to spend time and money on your art” or you’ve been told “why aren’t you selling your stuff?”—this is your place.

Where did Create Now! come from?

You can blame Chris Guillebeau.

First he started a blog, then he wrote a book, then he started a Travel Hacking Cartel, and then he put on a World Domination Summit in June 2011.

I have thought of little else since. How in the world could I start a revolution?

So . . . I just did.

Who are you anyway? Do you create?

I am Trish Lawrence, owner of real/brilliant, inc., a creative words company, which I am planning to turn into a creative media company in the next 72 months.

How?

By starting a revolution of course!

I’ve been an entrepreneur for 17 years, most of those as a book editor, author, marketing strategist, and literary agent.

I can’t stop pitching ideas; it’s a compulsion.

But I also can’t stop thinking about what I can create.

Most of the time it’s a new idea (I’m an “idea catcher” and dream up lists of them while eating Cheerios in the morning) or I am thinking about learning to make movies, draw and illustrate, compose pieces to play on the piano, edit photographs in Photoshop, knit, and everything else.

Creativity is burgeoning up inside of me and I think the best way to let it out is to create a place where others can play with me. (I have always loved sandboxes!) I’ve co-authored or authored 8 books (three for kids, five for adults), am part of an amazing product with amazing people, and am an associate agent with Erin Murphy Literary (kids books).

What will this site be about?

I’ll be talking about the creative process and how the Create Now! Revolution will be unfolding for ME, but I’ll also be talking to artist/creative people about how the creative process happens for THEM and how they might be utilizing the Create Now! Revolution.

I’ll have creative-focused worksheets for download so that readers can figure out how the creative process works for YOU, some ebook resources for purchase, and hopefully in the next few years, a forum/membership program where artists/creatives can gather and mash up THEIR creativity with OTHERS.

I would really LOVE to have a Create Now! parade. Or a Create Now! airstream trailer that travels all across the country. Oooo, or a Create Now! jet that travels all around the world! Wouldn’t that be completely freaky supernova awesome? Maybe someday.
