In preparation for my trip to Greece in just over two months, I’ve been rereading Cahill’s volume on Greece in his Hinges of History series.

Sailing the Wine-Dark Sea: Why the Greeks Matter is another fabulous read in the same vein as his book on the Irish, on the Hebrews, on the life of Jesus, and the later book in the series, about the Middle Ages.

What I thought
I am a huge Cahill fan, so I like anything he writes and this has been another fun venture into Greek history and culture, mythology and meaning, and how all of that translates to our civilization. Many folks say his first book on the Irish was his best, and sure, perhaps so, but you can’t go wrong reading Cahill’s Hinges of History series. You’ll learn so much! And I love the writing.

Have a great weekend!
