I am learning to let things float by. Usually, I have this thing where my environment mattered a great deal to my writing output. If I was stressed, had too much going on, or wasn’t sure about something, my writing was distracted, a slog, really not much fun at all.

It is slowly dawning on me that I have been making a mistake. Not about the writing goals not being met, but the “feeling good” not happening. What’s the point unless I am enjoying myself?

And I don’t mean I don’t ever write and it’s hard. Writing is hard, but if it becomes this terrible burden . . . really?

Creativity is simple. You do something that makes you feel good. If your writing goals or writing schedule is impeding that, let it go and find something else that works instead.
