Happy 2013, everybody!

As you can tell, the blog took a slight hiatus over the holidays.

It was a lovely break.

I am back to work—reading, writing, pitching—and it’s going to be a good year! I can feel it.

I’ve been thinking about what I (and what my clients) most want to accomplish this year (um, selling a novel!) and this led me to ask specific questions of a few of them: What is the one thing you would like to know about being more creative?

And what I’m getting back from them (and from myself) is that they want to accomplish specific things—learn to write new and different material, attempt to write humor, attempt to dig deeper into their characters’ emotions.

The quote in the image above sums up my response: So, what will you do today about that?

I think this will be a year-long experiment for this blog.

It doesn’t just happen in one day; it happens over many days. It doesn’t just mean one attempt; it means many attempts.

That’s what we’ll be working on together for 2013.

I’d love to hear from you: What is the one thing you would like to know about being more creative? As a kids book author? Or overall?

Talk to me.
