I have written 500 posts on this blog (since moving it from Blogger over five years ago) and I wasn’t even really counting (I mean, look how few posts I’ve written this year versus last year), but I just happened to look over and the post count was there.

It struck me as quite amazing. For those who have read this blog over the years, you know that I’ve used it as sort of a place to stretch my writing wings, review books, talk about creativity, publishing, my past, etc., but it took 500 posts of that to get to what I really, really love to talk and write about: creating good ideas.

Often, because of my day job, I talk about idea creation with my author clients, as we form them into book manuscripts and send them out to editors. But most of the time, the inner me is fascinated with ideas of all kinds. Sure, publishing is in my life blood, but I talk to people all the time and we don’t always just talk about books.

People love to light up when they talk about an idea or ideas. It may be a goal they have, something they hope to accomplish, it may be something philanthropical, something that will make other people’s lives better.

Most of the time, it’s really simple: an idea they are thinking about, just because it’s interesting. Sure, later on, they might create a small business from it, or they might end up using it in their jobs, or they might just join a forum to talk with other folks about that same thing.

I like those ideas. A lot. I find that those types of ideas are what makes the Internet so darn interesting . . . to me, to everyone. There is a lot to know and think about in this world.

And I prove that, just on this blog. 500 posts and I have just now found something that I will not stop talking about anytime soon. Let’s talk about ideas, shall we? What lights you up?
