Wow. Great weekend with family and friends. We got up early on Thanksgiving Day and drove from Seattle. The traffic wasn’t that bad at 6:30 am and we made it in by 10:30 to my parents’ house. Luckily the Wilsonville Sonic was open that morning because an hour north from Corvallis, we were starving. Nothing like a quick pass through Sonic (where they serve their full menu all day long!).
And then it was Thanksgiving and fun with the baby niece, who is no longer our “baby girl” as I’ve called her since birth. She’s a “toddler girl” now and she talks and talks and talks. She had her Uncle Todd smitten with her sing-song voice: “Uncle Todd, <insert indiscernible worlds here> pwease?” And she tipped her head to the side, batted her eyelashes at him, and promptly got his attention. She cuddles and laughs and dances and sings and loves her dollies and really wants to eat what’s on YOUR plate, not on her own. We had a great time.
And then the pies. Eleven pies for eleven people (actually ten, because toddler girl doesn’t eat pie yet) and was that fun. We all stood around the loaded kitchen counter laughing at the pies. And then we ate ‘em while watching silly movies and laughing as we realized that the “pwease?” toddler girl had learned was from THAT movie. (So that’s how she learned it!) We all collapsed into bed that night stuffed full and exhausted.
The rest of the weekend was spent visiting Mom at work at the mall, seeing friends, catching a showing of the New Moon movie, and eating all the leftovers. Game night at my bro and his wife’s house, watching a dvd of Alaska pics from our cruise, and more eating. Going to visit my sister’s horse and meeting her friends who help her compete in all her horse shows, and driving down to our friend’s new shop in Eugene to find pretty stuff for our houses. All in all it was a great way to spend Thanksgiving.
As November closes and December (and 2010) prepares to dawn, I’m grateful for people who love me just for who I am and for those same people that I can love just for who they are. It’s a massive blessing to be real, to be the person you are, not chasing the idea that you have to be something else.
Happy last day of November, everyone!

We stopped at the exact same Sonic last night on our way back from Seattle for Thanksgiving.
What is the Shop in Eugene that you mentioned?
It’s a good Sonic, brand new. We saw the billboard!
It’s Colby Cottage, owned by my friend Kathy Colby. 970 River Road, Eugene. Great stuff and she’s so nice. She’s been doing booths at antique shows and finally has her own shop!
