I’m so grateful today. Sure, things have NOT gone smoothly this week. All my best-laid plans went out the window because other things showed up that were more pressing. That’s OKAY. There’s always next week (or the week AFTER Thanksgiving, because next week there will be pie).
But what did get done this week is good!
1. Three web sites went live (my mentor’s blog, my dear friend Krista’s blog, my business web site) and I’m exhausted. (I claim nothing but widget work on my friend Krista’s fabulous foodie blog; the entire thing is her genius!) The web is too much fun! I love playing with widgets (right, K?) and I could do it all day long. Unfortunately, until someone PAYS me to play with widgets, I should actually write.
2. A first draft of a novel that is almost done. And it’s not as bad as I thought it was as I peek in at what I just wrote. But it ain’t pretty either. <sigh> Lots of December/January revising ahead of me!
3. Memoir work continues. It’s painful, but healing. Hard, but cathartic. Contrary to how I always thought it would feel to write about those years, I have no revenge in my heart at all. There’s just a whole lot of love and grace. That is kind of amazing. Most folks who hear about it get angry and vengeful FOR ME.
4. Fun weekend with my Europe traveling crew who are in town for the holiday: Ry, Stace, Amy’s Nick. We’ll be at undisclosed restaurant (for anonymity’s sake) in northern Washington on Sunday evening. I cannot WAIT!
5. I get to see my family next week. It has been two months since I’ve been down and I miss my baby niece and her mama and Daddy and my sister and my sister-in-love and my bro and my folks and chocolate pie.
Have a great weekend! And Happy Thanksgiving! (yeah, I’m early)
