R&D: Book Projects Update

A delightful past few days. I’ve been writing a lot and that’s always a good thing. But the thing I am really excited about is that I’ve been writing on multiple things–multiple book projects.

The first project is in its own right a monster. I just keep going because I think someday I’ll get some clarity with it. The second project is rather exciting. It’s a new look at a topic that’s been done over and over and over (since Socrates and Augustine), but my spin on it is something I wasn’t sure I could fit into the discipline. I think I can! It is fun!

I’m working with Michael Port’s Book Yourself Solid Infoproducts course and Eric Maisel’s The Art of the Book Proposal. Those two are my bibles, you might say. Then I’ve been reading several ebooks on infoproduct creation and John Reese’s Traffic Secrets 2 (great course; I highly recommend).

All in all, planning and researching and writing these manuscripts will probaby be the end of me. If this blog suddenly goes silent, you’ll know I was buried underneath the piles of papers and books that stack up in my office. But do know, I am quite happy. I’ve loved books my entire life.

I remember the first inspiration in 1995, when I realized that if I loved books and writing, the best career for me would be in publishing. It is! I work on books and digital products and am busier than I’ve ever been. However, the paperwork alone required to actually write one of these is surprising. And I’ve always had too many papers. Yes, dear family and friends, the piles in my office have gotten worse. I know!

The goal is to make it to my 35th birthday without an avalanche in here. Think I can do it? I hope so!
