So, tomorrow is our five-year wedding anniversary. I cannot believe it. I feel like it’s only been something like a year or so and then today I tried to remember back to what I was doing in preparation for that big event five years ago and I can’t really remember.
Todd does. He took one look at himself trying on his “groom” tux and had a panic attack. He’s so cute (he hates that word with a vengeance, but this is my blog!) and I love him.
For the anniversary, we bought each other personal training. Oh that hurt the checking account. Ha. But I also picked up the new Warren Buffett biography for him.
The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life by Alice Schroeder is big. Um, a door stop actually (I got a print version so we could both read it; Todd won’t touch my Kindle). But it’s fantastic. I’m only one-third of the way in and I already want a PhD in economics, an MBA, and a PhD in political science, just so I can stand up to the crazy socialist money-grubbers on the Hill and shake this book in their face. “Hello, this guy is an investing, money, business genius. Pay attention, folks.”
Alas, I have years of school left before I resemble anything that intelligent, so instead, I’ll just hold this up on my blog and beg anyone who wants to understand this guy’s genius to go get the book (or buy it for your hubby) and read it. It’s a good-sized dose of American hard work and patience that we all could stand to learn from.
And then I am inhaling the new Anne Rice book, The Road to Cana. Anne’s writing fiction about the life of Jesus; this is book two. I adored her first one (Out of Egypt came out in 2005) and then I caught her on James Dobson late one night a few weeks ago (I never listen to James Dobson; I was running through the channels and heard Anne’s voice) and was so blessed by her research and effort to write books that show us a completely divine and completely human Jesus. It’s a great series and I am happy to start a tradition of reading each Christmas season Anne’s incredible gift to the world.
Addendum: See a great PEOPLE review of my friend Allison’s book, Time of My Life (along with a great review of Warren Buffett’s book to boot) here.
Have a great weekend all.

Thank you, Heidi! So far this weekend we’ve managed to overheat both of our junk mail shredders at the same time, so I think we are made for each other. LOL.
