What’s Happening on 9-22?

Well, I’m just starting to awaken to the consequences of the Fed’s bailout last week. I’m not real happy about it. Sure, it’s nice to keep our economy going, but aren’t we passing along the problem farther down the road, like to our own kids and their kids? Sheesh. Someone told me the 700 billion bailout is like each taxpayer getting 2.5 million dollars. I would love 2.5 million dollars, but I’d feel “bad” about whining and moaning about my OWN MISTAKES and would then have to give it back. And I’m a corporate CEO to boot! If I make mistakes and take too many risks, I and I alone have the responsibility to fix it (read: pay it back) and I’m a little perturbed that other corporate CEOs decided to just buck it over when they are the ones who took the risk, not me.

I could rant all the day long today, I think. Where was McCain last week? He didn’t even have the words to express himself eloquently. Neither did Obama. Where is our country’s leadership? Or are we so anxious to win an election that we just let things slide now?

Enough on that though.

Penelope Trunk spoke up last week on her blog that writers should just blog and forget about writing books. Management guru Tom Peters agrees and states that he “loves blogging too much to do another book.” Not sure I’m liking this trend. While I LOVE blogs (and I love blogging), I still love books too.

And one of my favorite authors, Ayelet Waldman and her hubby Michael Chabon are taking donations for Barack Obama and their list of participating authors is quite impressive. I think our country’s illustrious literati have made their choice (note: Barack Obama is quite the literati himself; his memoir is very good) in this 2008 election. Donate here and get a book!

I’m off to monitor the guys coming to deliver my new refrigerator and then I’m going to write because there is just too. Much. In. My. Head.
