First up is my BookBrowse.com reader review assignment. Kissing Games of the World by Sandi Kahn Shelton. A gorgeous cover, and interesting premise, and yet I can’t get into it. I’m going to give it another go this weekend. I’ll keep you posted. Or you can join Bookbrowse and see my reader review over there next week. Premise: A single mother meets her landlord’s nephew and their topsy-turvy friendship turns to love.

Inside Out Girl by Tish Cohen is another advanced reader copy I received this summer and I’m finally scooping it up to read. Wow. Tish is a fellow Backspace member and I’ve been excited to finally dive in to this sweet storied novel with a hilarious cover and rich characters. Way to go, Tish!

We the Purple by Marcia Ford. Marcia and I met online about ten years ago, back before she wrote books on politics. She sometimes covers religious publishing for Publisher’s Weekly, I think, but I saw this book in my local Christian bookstore and had to read it. Really good. Really time-sensitive and highly insightful. I appreciate this book very much. If you’re weary of the two-party system that leaves no other options and are looking to find reassurance, this is the book to read.

Podcast Solutions by Michael W. Geoghegan and Dan Klass is a work-related book. I am working on my podcasting skills and I had this book from several years ago (there are others out there I’m sure that are better or just as good) but this works for me. Comes with free (although outdated) software to start podcasting right away. Just thought I’d throw it on the list in case people are looking to do some talking on their own. The link is to the revised second edition. You’ll be ahead of me!

The Wizard of Ads by Ray H. Williams. Now a classic for advertising writers, I read this book to be entertained a bit and to slow down and think about how I write and how I market with my writing. Yeah, deep thoughts. A fun read if you’re writing any copy for yourself at all.

Have a great weekend!
