Long Live the Second Amendment

Thank you, Supreme Court, for recognizing a citizen’s right to bear arms. I’ve got a chorus of voices telling me all their reasons for NOT letting citizens own guns. I don’t agree with them and I’ll say why now.

1. I was raised with guns and knew from a very young age that they were only for self-defense, not toys.

2. I will raise my kids with guns and teach them the same thing.

3. Gun bans only hurt people who buy guns legally.

4. It’s my right and has been since this country was founded. Just like freedom of speech.

5. I think it’s time for America to learn to deal with guns. It’s not hard. SCOTUS just opened that door again, which is progress. The best way to reduce crime, accidents, and other mishaps with guns is for people to learn about them and learn to respect them. Take a class, go shoot at a range. Really, it is like learning to operate a vehicle. Both can take a human life. I didn’t drive until I made sure I would never do that if could help it. It should be the same for guns.
