I have to unpack my suitcase today. I am out of clothes and have been wearing this very odd assortment of primary colors (red pants/shorts/skirt, blue or green top and a green puffer vest) all week long. I look like a Benetton ad as someone remarked last night. Who knew I had so many pairs of red/orange bottom pieces? Not me. Amazing what one can dig out of a closet to stay clothed.
We had champagne (Chandon) and strawberries last night to celebrate my official hiring. Yep, my one-year contract is quickly coming to a close and this past week the UK office worked it out with the U.S. office and I’m hired. I’m an at-will employee. No longer do I have the special considerations of a one-year contract, but no longer am I seen as preliminary. I’m for real! And just two more years to go until my goal. I set it before I even started the job. It still works for me a year later. So here we go!
Completely back on U.S. time. Woohoo. There’s a sense of relief at that. I’m back on U.S foods too: mostly salad and soups that I craved while I was overseas. I have junked my one inch of Coke a day and function great without it. I kept myself on this little amount just to make sure that I didn’t have voracious headaches during my withdrawal, but I guess I eased off the Coke so tenuously that I got through it without any headaches. Stocked up on new water bottles (#5, not #7) and a bunch of Dasani bottle packs (on sale at Fred Meyer for Memorial Day) and am guzzling quite happily. I also am reviving a tea addiction. I have amazing peppermint tea from Harrod’s, so that will be my new thing.
This is just Saturday blather. If you’ve read it all, I’m impressed. I am so glad to be home and not have a conference/symposium to attend or a plane to catch!
I’m writing today, so off I go. After I start the laundry . . .
